Ralph Willett Miller
(1762-1799)

Ralph Willett Miller was born in New York on 24 Jan 1762 and died on Theseus on 14 May 1799 when a captured French shell accidentally exploded on the ship. He served in the Royal Navy.

He appears as a character in the books "Siege" (Adam Hardy) and "Jackass Frigate, The" (Alaric Bond).

Notes:

• As Captain of Captain, 74 (Flag - Commodore Horatio Nelson), he took part in the Battle of Cape St. Vincent (14 Feb 1797).
• As Captain of Theseus, 74, he took part in the attack on Santa Cruz, Tenerife (22–25 Jul 1797), the Battle of the Nile (1 Aug 1798), and the Siege of Acre (18 Mar–20 May 1799).
